Heavy Duty Truck Technician / Mechanic
The Truck Engine Technician is primarily responsible for carrying out servicing and repair tasks on class 6-8 heavy-duty trucks and various diesel engines. This role involves working autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team. To maintain their position in the technician training program, the individual must successfully complete extensive on-the-job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning. The Technician is expected to exhibit initiative, a strong sense of teamwork, a dedication to customer service, and an efficient approach to problem-solving. Progression in classification is dependent on the individual's attitude, skill enhancement, and job performance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Strict adherence to all relevant safety standards and procedures
- Planning and executing minor repairs using the appropriate tools and methods
- Timely ordering and returning of parts for assigned jobs
- Skills to perform tasks on essential components in the work area, including engines, brakes, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical components, encompassing removal and installation, disassembly and reassembly, and making minor adjustments
- Competency in performing Preventive Maintenance services according to manufacturer guidelines
- Demonstrated proficiency in using service information systems
- Assisting as a helper in field service operations alongside an experienced technician, as necessary
- Capability to work independently in the field when required
Education

High School or Equivalent or better.
Experience
Required
A minimum of one (1) year work experience involving mechanical repairs or a combination of relevant experience and equivalent technical education is required. Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills are required.
